Hymn Stanza: Commemoration of Ezekiel
The annual commemoration of the Holy Prophet Ezekiel is 21 July. I wrote this stanza as part of the 2010 – 2011 hymn of the year for St. Paul Lutheran High School. It can be sung as the middle stanza of the hymn By All Your Saints in Warfare (tune: King’s Lynn) or to a number of other tunes with the 7676 D meter.
We praise You for the prophet
Ezekiel, the bold,
Who warned of death for sinners
But also grace forth-told.
Through visions, voice, and actions
He called men to repent;
He prophesied Christ’s coming,
Your cov’nant to cement.
