Hymn Stanza: Commemoration of Isaiah
The annual commemoration of the Holy Prophet Isaiah is 6 July. I wrote this stanza as part of the 2010 – 2011 hymn of the year for St. Paul Lutheran High School. It can be sung as the middle stanza of the hymn By All Your Saints in Warfare (tune: King’s Lynn) or to a number of other tunes with the 7676 D meter.
Thrice-holy seraph anthems
Isaiah heard and feared,
Yet You his quailing spirit
Uplifted, healed, and cheered.
We praise You for his warnings,
And for his words of grace,
Foretelling Jesus’ coming
As Savior of our race.
